Yancha, or Rock Teas, are grown in the cracks of the rocks in the Wuyi Mountains, where the soil is rich with minerals like potassium, zinc, and selenium. This unique terroir imparts a distinct minerality and complexity. The Meizhan cultivar, originating from Anxi, is often known for its floral aroma in the cup.

On the nose, we find cooked fruit and baked pastry. In the cup are notes of stone fruit, browning sugars, and a floral nuttiness.

Grown in the Fujian Province of China, Yancha (or Rock Tea) is found in Wuyishan (the Wuyi Mountains.) This region has a subtropical climate with high humidity year round, making it an ideal place for tea growing. The grower, Mr. Bao, comes from many generations of tea production and through his mastery of processing, has won many awards. This tea is charcoal roasted three times in the traditional methodology: first in May/June, next in August and then once more between October and November.
