Yerba Mate
Yerba Mate comes from llex paraguariensis, a holly genus native to South America. The leaves of this tree are harvested, dried, ground, aged and then ground again. This particular harvest was grown and produced in Brazil. We classify this tea as a 'Caffeinated Herbal' because it doesn’t come from the Camellia sinensis plant - the evergreen shrub species that all ‘true’ teas come from - but it does contain mateine, which is a combination of caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline.
