Lorenzo Anampa Rojas has been producing coffee for over thirty years on his farm, La Bonanza, in the La Convención province of Peru's Cusco department. Like many farmers in this rugged and mountainous region of Peru, Lorenzo is constantly impacted by both the challenges and benefits of extremely remote, high-elevation farming. While the altitude at la Bonanza provides the benefit of broad diurnal temperature cycles that make for exceptional coffee quality, it also commands long difficult treks to get the coffee to purchasing points in the capital city of Quillabamba over 60 miles away. Despite such challenges, Lorenzo has found success in his pursuit of producing extremely high quality specialty grade coffee due to his tireless investments at the farm level and his thoughtful stewardship of the land.
Tasting Set
A core practice in pursuit of our sourcing model at Passenger is our ongoing effort to find homes across our menus for a more comprehensive representation of the coffees produced by the farmers that make up our seven Foundational Partnerships. To that end, we are always excited for the opportunity to highlight Reserve Lot coffees from single producers who also contribute their coffees to our core Foundational Menu offerings. This unique tasting set offers the opportunity to enjoy the best of both. While the Reserve Lot selections in this set present clear representations of the impact of plant genetics in the cup, our Foundational Cusco offering demonstrates how carefully selected coffees, sourced from a variety of skilled regional producers, can come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts.
